Super League 6th April

A few selections here for the 2 derby matches in Super League which sees the in form Hull meet their local rivals Hull KR and Saints on the back of two excellent wins against Leeds and Warrington meet their big Rivals Wigan. 


Hull v Hull KR


Hull are going well this season, and can go top of Super League with a win against their local rivals today. Previous meetings of these 2 clubs have going back to 2007 thrown up total points of 54, 27, 25, 36, 32, 42, 32,44, 62, 39, 21, 48, 50, 52, 24,36. In these 16 meetings the total points has exceeded todays points total of 45.5PTs on 5 occasions. Given Hulls defence efforts this term I am happy to choose the under 45.5 Pts available with Ladbrokes.


Derby games are difficult to predict as the extra adrenaline and passion can throw some indifferent results, but I am happy to go with a Hull win today giving their rivals a 4 point start. 


Danny Tickle has scored 7 tries already this season and is currently 11/4 for (ATS) Anytime Try Scorer which is excellent value. Willie Manu has scored 5 tries in the last 3 games and very much an in form player for Hull which is also why I have chosen him for (ATS).

Saints v Wigan


Saints dismissed their coach Royce Simmons this season after a poor start and on the wrong end of some close games. However it was clear that Saints were not playing their usual attacking and flowing game and were in danger of losing their "Enertainers" tag. Since put in temporary charge Mike Rush and Keiron Cunningham have delivered 2 excellent results in beating the current Grand Final Winners Leeds and in form Warrington. The key in this is the massive defence improvement and this can deliver the under 48.5PTS line chosen for today.


A return to form of Winger Ade Gardner has seen him score 5 tries in his last 5 games and is selected as an ew option for 1st tryscorer @9/1 with Bet 365. The other selection for ATS is Josh Charnley who has scored 10 tries so far this season and sits on top of the try scoring list, at Even money I feel that this is excellent value.


Previous meetings (19) going back to 2007 has seen the following total points scored, 44, 44, 52, 42, 32,  50, 28, 24, 16, 56, 31, 32, 58, 73, 56, 32, 31, 52, 46, . Although high scoring games the total points have been under 48.5Pts 12 out of 19 times and given the defensive efforts of both sides this season I am choosing to go under that line today.
