Hi all,
Ahead of this week's PGA tour event, I wanted to give a top line of the players in form, which may aid your thought process this week for the purposes of any potential wagers or fantasy golf considerations.
I have sorted the players in order of their average finishing position in the last 3 events, to show which players arrive in form. The "average last 3" field shows the average finishing position. The betting position column shows where the player is in the betting in rank order. i.e. Justin Rose is 2nd favourite for the event and so gets a rank of 2, as does Charl Schwartzel, who is at the same odds. The column on the right summarises the different between the players average finishing position and their position in the betting. You can see that Brian Harman is 6th in the field on finishing position, but 56 places higher than that in the betting order.
I consider a lot of other things in compiling my odds and final tips, but I thought this would be a useful resource. I have only considered the top 65 or so in the betting here.
I have added some brief thoughts below the table for those with the more eye-catching "discrepancies" between form and odds.
As always, all comments greatfully received
Some comments regarding those that look to be priced much higher than their form suggests.
Bo Van Pelt - Putted unbelievably well at the WGC to finish in the top 10. Ptting important here, but Van Pelt needs more from his irons to truly compete this week.
John Senden - Great form, both recently and in the past here. Genuine threat this week. Should compete more than he does.
Peter Hanson - Finished well last week and faces a track with a requirement for similar scoring this week. not convinced of his value here.
Brian Harman - Last 3 events no worse than 26th. Good results on tougher courses. Can he translate that on an easier course?
Jason Kokrak - Needs to find a lot more with the putter this week
William Mcgirt - Consistent but rarely challenges. 18th in putting on Bermuda last week. Spreadex option?
Michael Thompson - Struggled on tougher tracks recently. Maybe a better chance here. 1, 15 in recent GIR. Needs to putt better
Matt Every - Poor last time out. Would need to find a lot here
Heath Slocum - Very straight off the tee, but not doing enough after that. Should make the cut. Spreadex?
Gary Christian - Struggling with the putter of late
Matt Bettencourt - 10, 97, 9, 96 in putting recently. Another top 10 here would be very useful . Progressive iron play last time out
regards
Dave (OneBet)
GREAT Stuff! I lok forward to your work. Glad to hit on McNeil last week.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the comments John. So much to look at and so little time to post it. I ignored my system in Puerto RICO last week, which cost me the McNeill tip. Nice call and so much going for him last week, not withstanding a small leap of faith for anybody in what was a very erratic field.
ReplyDeleteThis will be a regular feature going forward, so any suggested improvements great fully received and considered
